Showcasing Innovations in Healthcare & Public Health

El Rio Health’s 9th Annual Poster Fair is a dynamic showcase where healthcare and public health scholars across the region will their share groundbreaking research, innovative quality improvement projects, and impactful program developments. This activity is designed to promote best practices and knowledge exchange among professionals from FQHCs, hospital-based teaching health centers, and academic institutions. 

This year’s Poster Hall features nearly 70 accepted posters, with 47 presenters participating in person and competing for the 2025 Poster Awards.

Time: 3:00 – 6:30 PM

Detailed Poster Fair Schedule:

  • 2:30 PM – Poster Presenters Check In & Set Up
  • 2:45 PM –  Poster Judges (Group A) Check In
  • 3:45 PM – Poster Judges (Group B) Check In
  • 3:00 – 5:00 PM – Poster Judging & Scoring Period
  • 5:00 – 6:00 PM – Open Networking; Judge’s Deliberation
  • 6:00 – 6:30 PM – Awards Announced & Celebration

Instructions for Poster Presenters:

Important: all invited 2025 poster presenters (both in-person & remote) must upload their final poster in .PDF format by Monday, April 21, 2025. See below for guidelines and instructions for pre-poster fair and day of instructions.

Poster Dimensions:
Posters must be formatted and printed to 36" x 48" (landscape orientation). This is the standard size for our poster display boards and ensures readability during the in-person event.

Optional Poster Templates:
Use the links below to download the optional PowerPoint templates with the correct dimensions and layout suggestions for remote and in-person poster presenters.

While using the template is not required, we highly recommend it to help with formatting consistency and readability.

You are responsible for printing your poster. All presenters must bring their printed posters to the event. We do not offer on-site printing.

(Tip: Reproductions, Inc. is a popular local option.)

Recommended Paper Type:
Heavyweight matte paper is preferred for durability and readability. (Foam board mounting is not recommended.)

Display Format:
Posters will be mounted using push pins on 8’ x 4’ boards.

We will provide all pins and display boards.

Order Early:
Early printing is highly encouraged to avoid last-minute issues.

Arrival Time: 2:30 PM
Please arrive by 2:30 PM to check in and set up your poster. A floor plan with your assigned poster board number will be sent in advance. Mounting boards & supplies will be provided.

Poster Judging Period: 3:00 - 5:00 PM.
Poster judging will begin promptly at 3:00 PM. 

Parking:
Please park in the Tucson City Parking Garage, South of the Manning House. Parking validation will be provided upon check-in.

Expectations for Presenting to Poster Judges:

You’ll meet with your two (2) assigned judges for 6-8 minutes: 

-  3 Min. for Oral Presentation:
You'll provide an oral summary of your poster – (Oral presentation is a part of the scoring criteria – prepare your 3-minute project summary in advance!)

- 3 Min. for the Judge's Q&A 

The final poster scores will be calculated by the average of both judges' scores.

 

CARLOS M. FLORES, MD "CREATE TOMORROW" AWARD
This award is presented to the author(s) of the Best Overall Poster. The poster clearly demonstrates an impact on improved health outcomes. Research and findings contribute to new knowledge of improved practices or policies that support community health centers. Additionally, the model demonstrates replicability in other community health centers.

1st place awards will be presented for each of the following categories:

INNOVATION AWARD
Posters that provide new information or unique practice models and contribute insight into important and timely research or to improvements in patient care. 

RELEVANCE AWARD
Projects that are both pertinent and of great interest to community health centers and primary care. 

COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD
Posters that discuss the impact on health outcomes in the community, and clearly describe and demonstrate community involvement.
